Control the Speed of Your Voicemails on Google Voice for Android

Last week Google made a handy little improvement to the Google Voice for Android app. People who have devices running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) can now control the speed of voicemail playback. Additionally, your Google Voice messages will appear in the same call log as all other messages on your phone.

For people who don’t have Android 4.0 devices, Google Voice is still a very useful service. As soon as I got a Google Voice number I put it on my course syllabus and course website so that students and parents could contact me via text message or phone call without seeing my real cell phone or home phone number. Then using the web version of Google Voice and later the Google Voice for Android app, I could read text messages, read transcriptions of voicemail messages, and reply via text without using my wireless carrier text plan.
