WeVideo Brings High Quality Video Editing to Android Devices (some of them)

Screen Shot 2013-02-24 at 8.28.47 PM WeVideo is a cloud-based video editing service that I have been promoting in my workshops and on Free Technology for Teachers for the last year. WeVideo has offered an Android app for a while. WeVideo Camera allows you to record pictures and raw video and upload it to one of your existing projects.

This weekend I learned via TechCrunch that WeVideo is launching a new Android app that will allow you to create and edit videos on your Android devices. The new WeVideo Android app promises to deliver the same ease of video editing that you find in the online version. The app is currently in beta and only available for a handful of devices. Learn more in the video below.

When it becomes available on more devices the WeVideo Android app could be a great tool for students to use to create and edit videos from anywhere. In a social studies course have them use the app to be citizen reporters reporting on local news stories. In a science class you might have them use it to create mini documentaries about plants and animals that they can video with their cameras.
